SUMMARY:Professional Development with P. Susan Jackson
DESCRIPTION:Open to all educators\, administrators\, advocates\, and medical professionals who work with gifted children. You will gain an understanding of best practice principles\, and acquire skills and strategies to better address the learning and social-emotional needs of these incredible children. \nHighly and profoundly gifted students are often misunderstood and insufficiently challenged in the classroom. This session will empower you to better understand and address the learning and behavioral needs for this special population. Effective teaching of these learners requires sensitivity\, empathy\, flexibility\, and the wherewithal to respond to cues. \nYou will build competency in recognizing and developing strategies that address the challenges that result from asynchrony\, depression\, over-excitabilities\, and perfectionistic tendencies to support affective growth in your gifted students and clients. \nThe main session is led by P. Susan Jackson\, of The Daimon Institute\, who has presented all over the world on the topic of profoundly gifted children. She is a dynamic speaker with many years of professional experience and a treasure trove of stories to illuminate the concepts she covers in her presentations. Her presentation will be followed by break-out sessions with master teacher instructors from the Grayson School staff who enjoy working to meet the needs of all gifted children. \n3 Act 48 hours pending. \n
