Chapter 16 :

Chapter 16 is the regulation which describes how gifted education is required to be delivered and operate in Pennsylvania. PAGE was instrumental in the intial passage of Chapter 16.

April, 2008 - Chapter 16 update accoding to Jim Buckheit:
The next step is for the State Board staff to develop the regulatory package-which is now taking place. The package will then be reviewed by the Governor's Office. Once approved it goes to the education committees and IRRC. It's unknown when any of this will happen because the only piece the State Board staff controls is the submission to the Governor's Office. That might be within the next two weeks. All those who submitted comments during the official public comment period will be notified by letter sent the same day the package is submitted to the education committees and IRRC.

December 20, 2007 - According to a source at the Department of Education, the anticipated plan is to present a proposed (working document) version of Chapter 16 at the Wednesday, January 16th committee meeting of the State Board. The final form of Chapter 16 will probably not be ready to bring to the State Board until March. PAGE will receive a copy of the working document at the meeting on January 16th. After we see the document in January, PAGE will recommend additional steps needed.
